The Möbius Chorus was performed and recorded on August 18th, 2018 at Never Apart Gallery in Montreal, QC. This meditation lasted approximately 40 minutes.

The Mobius Chorus is based on “Listening Out Loud”, a ‘Tuning Meditation’ created by Pauline Oliveros. Pauline was a 20th century composer that coined the term Deep Listening which is a practice that focuses on the confluence of sound (generated and passive) and meditation. She was a pioneer in experimental and electronic music and PRACTICE would not exist without her influence. The tuning meditation is an instructive score that requires the active participation of the audience. Being an exercise of Deep Listening it follows three tenants: listening/sounding, moving & dreaming.

We will be accessing all of these through Pauline’s simple instructions:

1. Close your eyes and inhale deeply
2. Exhale on the note of yr choosing (and hold it for as long as is comfortable)
3. On your next inhale, listen to the sounds around you and exhale on a note you can hear
4. On your following inhale, listen to the sounds around you and exhale on a note you do not hear
5. Repeat and cycle steps 3 & 4

It’s okay to take breaks, be silent & simply listen; make sound when it feels right..

Close your eyes. Inhale deeply and….
